  • Semester One - January to April.

  • Semester Three – September to December.

Students are grouped in classes according to their Semester cohorts/clusters. Those who register are supplied with the Basic Reading Manuals/Modules mentioned above with Continuous Assessment (CAT) questions attached. A Module should be covered within 3 Weeks and a CAT submitted.

Our social development courses

Community Based Development & Project Management; Social Work & Development; and Community Health & Development - have two key course books which each student is required to buy and read. These are ‘Demystifying Participatory COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT’, and ‘PARTICIPATORY MONITORING & EVALUATION’. Both are authored by Mulwa, F.W. and can be found in all major commercial and University bookshops in Nairobi.

One Week Face to Face Diploma Clinic Workshops are held every three months (during school holidays). These are meant to bring students together for interaction between themselves and with Premese Staff. Problematic topics in the Manuals are clarified during such workshops before students sit for their Semester Exams.

Testimonials

I just want to share with you a bit of good news after my graduation from Premese. I came back to Tanzania and I started to implement what you have been telling us during my stay in Kenya. I am now running my own NGO as a Director with three employees dealing with women and youth empowerment against poverty (WYEAP). It has been registered under the Company’s Act Cap 212 in Tanzania. I also thank all of Premese staff who gave me courage. I am now an elected Councillor. I went up to the national level elections where I became the youngest Councillor. And guess what, after vote counting, I won with more than double of all the votes cast to my competitors combined. Hence I am now Councillor representing my people in the Municipal Council. This is no mean achievement given that I graduated from Premese only three months ago. Because of that I now want to send my sister to undertake the similar course and also I am coming to join advanced diploma soon.
Alloys M, Former Student from Tanzania
I have been quite successful in applying the new knowledge gained in Premese Africa including the inspiring motivational talks by Dr. Mulwa. I work in Puntland Somalia serving Internally Displaced Persons under the auspices of an international NGO called DRC
